1. Introduction
Welcome to Language Alchemist, a division of Alchemy Theatre (Pty) Ltd. By using this website, purchasing my books, downloading my software, or engaging my blurb writing services, you agree to the following terms and conditions. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use this site or its services.
2. Blurb Writing Services
I provide custom blurb writing services for authors. The following terms apply to all service agreements:
- Booking & Payment: Work commences only once the required project details are submitted and the agreed-upon invoice is paid in full (or as otherwise stipulated in our direct communication).
- Revisions: Service packages include a set number of revisions as outlined in our initial agreement. Additional revisions may incur extra fees.
- Copyright & Usage: Upon final delivery and full payment, you are granted the right to use the blurb for your marketing and publication needs. I retain the right to display the final blurb in my professional portfolio unless a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) is in place.
- Proofreading/Editing: Full manuscript proofreading and editing services are currently offered on a strict case-by-case basis and are subject to separate, customised contracts.
3. Digital Products & Book Sales
Because my books and digital downloads are delivered instantly, the following policies apply:
- Refunds: Due to the digital nature of eBooks and downloadable content, all sales are final. I do not offer refunds or exchanges once the digital file has been delivered or downloaded.
- Delivery Issues: If you experience technical difficulties downloading your purchased book, please reach out via the contact form, and I will ensure you receive your file.
- Personal Use Only: Digital books are licensed for your personal enjoyment. You may not distribute, share, pirate, or resell the files.
4. Serious About Series (Software)
Serious About Series is an author continuity tool built and maintained by Language Alchemist. Please note that all purchases and licensing for this software are handled securely through our Merchant of Record, Gumroad.
- Sales & Refunds: All financial transactions, receipts, and software delivery are governed by Gumroad's Terms and Conditions, which are provided during the checkout process.
- Software Usage: Your use of the Serious About Series application (both Lite and Pro versions) is governed strictly by the End User License Agreement (EULA) included with the software download. By installing and using the software, you agree to the terms outlined in the EULA.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on this website—including text, graphics, logos, images, and software code—is the property of Language Alchemist and Alchemy Theatre (Pty) Ltd, and is protected by South African and international copyright laws. Language Alchemist, Serious About Series, and Story Sifter are pending trademarks.
6. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
